Sunday was our actual game drive. Wa and I enjoyed a 5:30 am coffee on our little porch while we watched the animals on the veld. After breakie and check-out we hopped onto our safari rover and we were on our way. Mads actually fell asleep for an hour during the drive, amazing what the hum (roar) of a safari rover can do for you… The girls were both great and patient, during our 3-hour drive. We saw our elephant friends again, we also saw eland, more springbok, waterbuck, oryx, blue wildebeest, more ostrich, two giraffe and two rhinos! The girls were not allowed in the lion enclosure, so Wa went in and I stayed out with the girls, he saw a male and a female – up close! We found out later why no kids were allowed in the lion enclosure when we ‘met’ their younger lions. They pretty much looked at Madelyn like she was a tasty snack, and tracked her every move as she walked the outside perimeter of the fence. She was pretty much a walking Scoobie Snack!
When we got back home, my cousin Andrew and his wife Justine took us out for a wonderful dinner and Granny Pat got her babysitting wings, with an ever-feisty Madelyn.
